Board of Trustees

The American Academy of Liberal Education (AALE) is governed by a Board of Trustees, a body of elected members. The Board is responsible for establishing accreditation standards and AALE policy; making accreditation decisions; and supporting the integrity of liberal education by fostering discussions on the educational substance of liberal arts learning. The Board is responsible for the overall development and growth of AALE.

Board members are administrative and academic professionals who have comprehensive experience with liberal education, as well as public members whose careers are outside of academia. The composition of the Board is reviewed annually to ensure a range of experience suited to meet the needs of the association. Board members are elected to serve four-year terms.

The Nominating Committee actively seeks recommendations for nominations for AALE Board of Trustees members and AALE Council of Scholars members. These recommendations must reach the Nominating Committee by the specified date listed each year on the Board Calendar page.

Please send recommendations and questions about the nomination process and serving on the Board of Trustees to aaleinfo@aale.org
