At the American Academy for Liberal Education (AALE) annual meeting on June 11, 2019, the Board of Trustees reviewed applications for charter Associate membership, a new membership initiative created to serve as AALE’s alternative, non-accredited venue for supporting distinctive post-secondary programs that model excellence in liberal education.

AALE Board members Sara Henary and Joshua Hochschild are working with the new charter Associate members to set an agenda for the coming year. Discussions are to focus on shaping best ways to effectively articulate what counts as genuine liberal education, building a brand identity that promotes member programs among high school students looking to pursue rigorous liberal arts learning on a post-secondary level, and increasing Associate membership.

If you are a post-secondary program interested in joining our efforts to strengthen the value and public awareness of liberal education, we invite you to submit an application for Associate membership. For information please contact us at
